Two collections running concurrently. City on Cloth collection of map scarves and smaller items such as lavender bags. Old maps are scanned, the artwork is done by Helen, then it is printed and the scarves are finished in Macclesfield. My Harris Tweed collection of scarves and smaller items, consists of Harris Tweed paired with luscious silk velvets for a sumptuous large scarf and iconic Liberty Tana lawn cottons for a smaller skinny scarf. These are all made by myself in my workroom in Liverpool.

Story and ethos

Helen Chatterton was born in Bury, Lancashire in 1961. The seeds of a lifetime's obsession were sown when her Scottish mother taught her to knit and sew at the age of seven, and growing up in a textile-based town and household fostered a passion for all aspects of fabrics and yarns. In 2007 Helen started to make her unique tweed and velvet scarves, which proved to be very popular. These were followed in 2009/10 by her skinny scarves. Helen has gradually built up the business and now sells her work the length and breadth of the country in high quality shops and galleries.

Our City on Cloth scarves are designed by me, and printed in Macclesfield. Everything else is made by me in my studio in Liverpool.

We love commissions. I have a large stock of vintage maps so chances are I will be able to find the area you would like and if not I can source one. We have a set up fee of around £35 on top of the scarf price itself, this is to create the new design for you
