Coldharbour Lights makes fabulous feather lampshades in shades of blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, black and white. They provide a decadent touch of colour to any room and impart a feeling of times past with a touch of Art Deco.
The company uses only the best quality feather. They are carefully sourced from farmers and they are from chickens or game birds, by-products of the food industry. No rare or endangered species are used.
Coldharbour Lights have collaborated with maximalist stylist Terian Tilston (Instagram) who loves to introduce colour into interiors. They used the Rio Collection feather lampshade in iridescent purple, green and pink in a ‘peacock’ themed boudoir. And Bertie, a two-tier fabulous feather chandelier in lilac with chains and crystals for a maximalist living room in dark green.
Bertie – short for Liberty – in burnt orange was also used in a style shoot by multi-reality visual artist Felicity Peek (Facebook) against a sunburst design Avalana ceiling mural. And a blush pink Bertie was used by Wendy Morrison Design for a chinoiserie bedroom makeover.
A touch of theatre for the home
Lottie, the designer and owner at Coldharbour Lights trained in theatre and spatial design under Jacque Lecoq in Paris. Outside of work she experimented with jewellery making and light sculptures.
Coldharbour Lights brings the magic, drama and light together to provide a touch of theatre for the home. Each lampshade is hand-crafted with meticulous attention to detail. They are incredibly lightweight.
The finished products are soft, tactile and Bertie can be spun to allow the crystals to catch the light. At Blue Patch’s Sustainable Arts & Crafts exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery, visitors delighted in interacting with an olive green Bertie on display.
Sustainably sourced materials
Coldharbour Lights believe in sustainability. Over 90% of their materials come from the UK. They recycle most of the packaging that materials are delivered in. They use local services wherever possible to provide cutting and finishing.
They are proud members of Blue Patch and have worked through our Let’s Do Net Zero training. Coldharbour have also undergone additional work on their sustainability with the Naturesave Trusts’ Making Business Greener support service (Naturesave is a Blue Patch Patron). This was a natural next step in preparing their sustainability statement prior to exhibiting with Blue Patch at the London Design Fair in 2023.
“I was very lucky to find Alice at Positive Impacts. Alice has helped me, in very simple terms, to recognise the many elements involved in measuring our company’s carbon footprint. She has been instrumental in putting together our business environmental policy. I urge you to reap the benefits of working with Alice, for all our sakes.” – Lottie Davies, Coldharbour Lights (on Naturesave)
Alice Doyle is on Blue Patch’s advisory board as our net zero expert. A chartered environmentalist, she also leads Blue Patch’s interactive monthly workshops for members ‘Sharing & Solving Challenges Together’ . The workshops are supported by Blue Patch patron the Naturesave Trust.

A fabulous feather lampshade adds a touch of decadence to a home. The double and triple chandeliers make a central architectural piece for larger spaces. The Classic collection and Rio collection of lampshades can be purchased on the Coldharbour Lights website.
Coldharbour are also happy to collaborate on specific projects. Custom feather colours can be matched to pantone references for a particular interior decor scheme. Contact Coldharbour Lights to discuss your requirements.
