Hot Water film competition

Soft Oscar’s by Stuff Your Doodles

We thought we should tell everyone a little more about Cool it World Ltd, our social enterprise that runs both Blue Patch and the children’s creative environmental programme Cool it Schools.

Cool it Schools has been busy turning serious, scary issues such as climate change into engaging, fun competitions to help young people express their ideas and feelings about the environmental situation. Now in our 5th year we are about to hold the Hot Water film awards at the BFI (British Film Institute) on London’s Southbank. Over 900 young people got involved in the Hot Water project and the winning films will be screened in the NFT 3 on Tuesday, followed by a lot of chocolate fingers and juice as 135 kids will be joining us.

Blue Patch pioneer member and friend Lucy Moose of Stuff Your Doodles has generously supported Cool it Schools for several years, making a royal fish for the Queen’s Jubilee Pageant exhibition at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, supplying free workshops for kids and recently creating the awards for Hot Water.

Lucy pulled all the stops out making the Soft Oscars, despite being in the middle of her Christmas rush. They will be presented at the film awards on the 26th of November.

Lucy’s unique works are based on drawings people send her, which she interprets using whatever fabrics come to hand. Collaborations generate ideas, which is very much in the spirit of Blue Patch and Lucy’s kindness and willingness to help when we suggested we may need some oscars, has made a big difference to a lot of children. Her website is compulsive viewing – Blue Patch takes no responsibility for anyone developing a serious addiction to Doodles.
