The Happy Planet store is now up and running at Manchester Art Gallery and is the latest collaboration in our programme of pop-up events. Featuring beautifully crafted, sustainable products by Blue Patch members, all local artisans, designers and artists, the pop-up store has a dedicated area next to the Gallery’s own shop and runs until 18th April.

As our first showcase for the ‘New Green Economy’, we’re thrilled to be collaborating with the gallery.
Not only does The Happy Planet Store provide additional footfall and subsequent income for the gallery, it also provides visitors with a walk-in store (which can also be viewed online), sustainability experience and information. And best of all, the store gives Blue Patch members the opportunity to promote their products and services to a new audience.
The Happy Planet pop-up includes a curated product list of over 35 Blue Patch members featuring a wide range of products for the home, wellbeing and children’s toys. We felt it was important to ensure the range reflected the creativity of the UK’s local businesses as well as offering variety and choice; from hand-crafted furniture from Bezueval and Manchester-based Tread Softly’s ‘furniture reinvented’ to plastic-free shampoo by Kind2 and eco-friendly toothbrushes by Tooth – there’s something to fit all pockets.
Alistair Hudson, Director Manchester Art Gallery and the Whitworth said, “Manchester Art Gallery is very happy to be hosting Blue Patch, as part of our drive to support a more sustainable and ethical economy and switch to an ecologically sound way of life.”
Founder of Blue Patch, Jane Langley said “Blue Patch members love to show their work, tell their stories and provide demos and workshops at pop up events. Our sustainable businesses are responding to the challenges of Net Zero with vitality and imagination.”

We have more Happy Planet pop-up events planned for the rest of the year and will be updating you on progress and where we’ll be in the coming months.
