Herring Shoes

Herring Shoes

Herring Shoes make handmade shoes, mostly in Northampton in the UK. Our shoes often use traditional Goodyear welting that offers durability, repairability and comfort, although our European-made casual shoes are often moccasin construction for light weight and flexibility. Alongside shoes we also create luggage clothing and other accessories. The key factor that unites them all is our commitment to quality. Every piece is checked for sizing, quality and durability before we add it to our range. We are very proud of the reputation our independent business has built since we started in 1966.

How we make our shoes

How we make our shoes

See the huge skill involved in making one of our shoes. It takes 8 weeks and 150-200 separate operations using fine handcrafting skills and some very dangerous machinery! Once you see what is involved you appreciate why welted shoes are so special.
