Reduce waste with reusable Christmas crackers

Keep This Cracker does exactly what it says on the tin. They are reusable Christmas crackers and they can be used for any party event where a cracker is typically used. They also make handy gift boxes as the shape is a bit more roomy than a standard cracker tube.

When does Christmas 2025 start?

We’ve just finished with Easter which has become a very commercial event like Christmas is. We are half expecting to see the shops start stocking Christmas merchandise, but it is a little bit early – maybe. Summer picnics and then halloween first. Plenty of single use plastic goods on sale that are not recyclable.

Christmas is especially wasteful. Between Christmas cards – 150 million cards are delivered by the Royal Mail and wrapping paper – an estimated 227,000 miles of it – it could reach the moon! 8 million Christmas trees are trashed post-Christmas, as are 175 tonnes of aluminium wrapping from around the 175 million mince pies us Brits consume (GWP Group).

Reusable Christmas crackers

We throw out a lot of waste. And it was the waste that made Bea Thackeray, a print designer, look at Christmas crackers. An estimated 300 million crackers are pulled each Christmas (Comedy). So Bea designed and produced a reusable Christmas cracker.

The simple cardboard sleeve uses FSC® certified board or uncoated kraft board which is PEFC® certified compostable. They are printed with eco-friendly water & vegetable based inks. The glue is also water based. There is no glitter or foil so the whole cracker can be fully recycled.

Note: The decorative ribbons are made of recycled plastic (rPET) and are certified GRS (Global Recycled Standard). They are woven and dyed in the UK. They can be reused on the crackers each Christmas.

A cracker wouldn’t be a cracker without a snap! Optional standard snaps can be bought separately from the crackers to replace the ones that are used each year. They’re the only part of the cracker that isn’t made here in the UK. They are also not everyone’s favourite. Sensitive people can be upset by crackers and pet owners hate the way they upset their pets.

Bea has developed an ecosnap. This is a gentle popper that pulls like a snap, but it is recyclable and made here in the UK. Keep This Cracker crackers are supplied with ecosnaps and these low-noise, people, planet and pet-friendly options are a popular alternative.

Keep This Crackers are supplied in recyclable packaging and can be shipped across the UK. The company also offers trade pricing for gift shops and retailers. The crackers can be personalised with company branding for a corporate event.

They are sold flat packed to reduce the environmental impact but they are easy to assemble and filled with the gifts, novelty items, and jokes.
