Sustainable Arts & Crafts Showcase at Dulwich Picture Gallery

Join us at Blue Patch’s Sustainable Arts & Crafts Showcase for the Dulwich Festival, at Dulwich Picture Gallery. Free exhibition, Saturday 13th to Sunday 14th May. You can book your free tickets on eventbrite.

As part of the 30-year celebration of the Dulwich Festival, Blue Patch is showcasing some of the nation’s finest sustainable artists, crafters and designers in an exhibition as part of ‘Artists Open House’ at Dulwich Picture Gallery.

Open Saturday May 13th to Sunday 14th 10am – 5pm

The Showcase is curated by Blue Patch’s founder, Jane Langley, and will be in the Linbury Room and Cloisters. Exhibits include the iconic Windsor Rocker by Katie Walker, a designer and maker whose pieces are in the Manchester Art Gallery, sculpture with a musical theme by Abdollah Nafisi, currently studying at the Royal College Of Art, London. Carolyn Blake will show oil paintings from the Unchanging Traveller series, and Scottish colourist Janet Tod will exhibit her flower paintings. Continuing the natural theme, Jim Washburn’s photographs of plants reference classical compositions, which can be seen in the main Gallery’s permanent collection. Oliver Gosling, a graduate of the RCA, will show emotionally changed symbolic landscapes, Jason Shuttleworth, his painterly geometrics and Finlay Taylor exhibits intaglio prints and objects that refer to ‘homes’ in nature. Coldharbour Lights will hang an exquisitely decadent feather chandelier, and Angela Cole, studying for her City & Guilds Diploma in Basketry, will show her work. Expert in glazes, potter Linda Bloomfield, will show vases from her lichen series, and Laura’s Loom will present woven cushions reflecting the colours of the Yorkshire Dales. Madder Cutch & Co. presents textiles, screen printed on linen and Beuzeval Furniture will tidy things up with Boundary, an all-around practical, elegant handcrafted piece for the home.

In the Cloisters, visitors will discover Dalston Dolls, Chloe Haywood’s stylish recycled leather bolt bracelets, marbled leather by ROCWORX and Wolfram Lohr fostering a biophilic display with his inspirational plant hangers.

Everything in the Showcase is for sale.

Blue Patch members and makers will be attending the event, and visitors can also view films of them at work. If you need another reason to visit the exhibition, Dulwich Picture Gallery’s Berthe Morisot exhibition is free on Saturday 13th!
