Sustainable skincare brands

Many of the cosmetics we buy, even those from big name brands, contain toxic ingredients and they are packaged in materials that are not recyclable. That’s why we are pleased to have sustainable skincare brands in our UK directory for you to shop from.

Conscious Skincare

Conscious Skincare is a small brand based in west Wales. The brand was started by Rebecca who suffered from very dry skin. She couldn’t find any products that were rich enough to solve her dry skin issues, so she developed her own products. Conscious Skincare makes organic skincare using high quality natural ingredients that are packaged in eco-friendly packaging. These can be purchased online and include face and body skincare, gifts and refills.

Example product: Sweet Orange and Frangipani Body Lotion (chosen by The Royal Ballet for a collaboration) combines organic, vegan and natural ingredients and leaves the skin super-hydrated and soft. ‘One of the best moisturisers I’ve ever used.’

Terre Verdi

Terre Verdi makes certified organic skincare inspired by Italy and it is owned by Sicily-born Alessandra. It was one of the earliest UK companies to achieve Cosmos organic certification. They use no synthetic ingredients and they developed their own specialist biophotonic glass packaging that is recyclable. The products are cruelty free approved and 100% vegan. Products include face and body skincare, essential oils and gift sets which can be ordered from their website.

Example product: The FranChouliPom face serum feeds dry and maturing skin with organic argan and pomegranate oils, frankincense and patchouli essential oils leaving the skin supple, nourished and taut. ‘My 50 year old skin glows as soon as I’ve applied it.’

The Bath House

The Bath House shop was founded by a group of five friends (Abigail, Nigel, Pauline, Glyn & Gareth) who met at college and later settled in the Lake District where the landscape inspired them to create natural products. They use natural ingredients and plant-based by-products from the food industry. They pack in recyclable and refillable packaging. Products can be bought from their stores or ordered online. They include perfumes, body and facial skincare products, refills, home fragrance and gift sets.

Example product: The iconic Patchouli and Black Pepper Collection includes a fragrance, body lotions, washes, soaps, and this Hand Cream with sweet almond oil, grape seed oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and vitamin E.  ‘I love the aroma of the Patchouli and Black Pepper range, and the Hand Cream is a little joy, smooth and nourishing, but not at the expense of the planet.’
