Valentine’s Day: Love is all you need

Valentines Day

Love is in the air

Moving from those dark, short days of winter, spring is in the air and so our thoughts turn to Love. A small token at any time is always welcome. My choices are traditional but with a home grown twist.

British grown flowers are the most anticipated and appreciated.

I love the paper white narcissi as they smell divine and just make you feel brighter. With so many varieties coming in from the around the UK from the Scilly Isles to Scotland we have so many to choose from as a perfect Valentine’s gift. Flowers at Clowance ship wholesale British grown flowers across the UK to independent florists such as our Blue Patch member Shamini who makes the prettiest posies from local, seasonal flowers. You can order an arranged and wrapped bunch of mixed Cornish Narcissi directly from Clowance too.

Thinking ahead for those planning a wedding,  the sight of such blooms must be a reminder to use “grown not flown”flowers.

Being rather cheeky – show the one you love a box of delicious Rococo chocolates.

Rococo

The Rococo chocolate factory is in West Dulwich, London. Chantal Coady began Rococo nearly thirty years ago and I remember the first shop in the Kings Road- which is still there. It was pretty unique then with its focus on artisan chocolate and distinctive, beautifully designed packaging. Chantal has stayed true to her philosophy for ethics and sustainability. A close collaboration with the Grenada Chocolate Factory continues today with Grococo Farm which is a social enterprise that also provides cocoa for the Rococo Organic House Blend.
