I started Kitchen Design 19 years ago and quickly fell in love with helping clients and trades create expertly designed kitchens. Through working with a varied collective of trade and retails clients, I found an increasing number asking me to interior design other rooms and large scale projects.
I’m hugely passionate about wellbeing, nature and sustaining the world we live in.
With this passion I started to study more and more about how I could incorporate this, accessibly, into people’s homes.
Out of my experience and passion I decided to start C.S. Sustainable Design. A Holistic approach to Interior and Kitchen Design.
What is holistic interior design? The goal is to create environments that support the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of individuals. This involves selecting materials that are non-toxic and eco-friendly, optimising natural light and incorporating elements of nature/ biophillic design to create a connection with the outdoors.
Sustainability is at the centre of this and I collaborate with clients to bring functional and stunning interiors, with conscious strategies and empathy towards our planet.
I’m lucky enough to work with some incredible craftsmen who bring this to reality.
I’d love to talk to you about your project and see how we could work together to create, unify, connect and explore 💫 so please do get in touch ✨
I have studied sustainability in interiors, therefore my aim is to bring even the smallest part to each project that I can.
We painstakingly source the most sustainable materials, work with craftsmen that are local to the area and aim to educate them on their own footprint and waste management. Each supplier is picked to reflect wellbeing in the interiors, we choose companies that do not use products with pollutants and chemicals to help bring health and wellbeing to the home or space we are designing. As a design business, I do not directly package anything, but I choose to use digital mood boarding to hone down schemes before using too many physical samples. Again these can be recycled back to the business or I can recycle them if there is no longer any need. I work with clients to see what we can reuse in the property in the design. I can produce a report before the project starts on how to reduce impact during the project as well as advise on ways to bring more well being in to the home. A lot of meetings can be held remotely, I also design remotely for certain services and have a Designer on call service, through the medium of video calling we can reduce travel greatly if requested. I am working with Blue Patch learning how to audit the business's carbon footprint, using the 'let's do net zero' programme, looking at scope 1, 2, 3 emissions. I aim to set a baseline year 2025 for scope 1 & 2 emissions and will be starting to analyse scope 3.
My main aim is to grow a Sustainable Interior Design business and bring more knowledge to the industry. I hope to take my Design teaching background and elevate it to teach fellow designers and clients in ways to design and manage projects with reduce or negative carbon footprints. Reducing waste is a very big part of this - my hope is that we can have zero waste going forward and a that all products can be certified with C2C or Cradle to Grave and to protect our planet from Fast Interiors. I like to take a slower approach and work with clients on designs for a long time so that we can get a perfect fit for them - now and in the future.
Education is so important and I hope to bring this element to clients too. Showing them how they are already practicing sustainably and helping them to do more and more.
