Love your children, love the planet with sustainable children’s footwear

Driven by a love for the environment, sustainable children’s footwear brand, Pip and Henry has recently launched a brand-new range of summer shoes that are perfect for the little ones in your life. From sandals to sneakers, they have everything your kids need to stay stylish and comfortable during the warm weather months.

Commitment to sustainability

What sets Pip and Henry apart from other kids’ shoe companies is their commitment to sustainability. All of their shoes are made from recycled and eco-friendly materials, such as organic cotton, pineapple leaf fiber, recycled cork, and much more. This means that you can feel good about your purchase knowing that you’re not harming the environment.

“When my daughter (who’s now 5) came into our lives, I was really amazed and shocked by the sheer volume of ‘stuff’ that consequently entered our lives…and this really started to bother me. On the one hand I was showing her Blue Planet documentaries, wanting her to be more inspired by nature and animals and to treat our world kindly and thoughtfully. On the other, she was outgrowing clothing and footwear faster than I could have imagined and that I could effectively recycle.”

Jeroo Doodhmal, founder of Pip and Henry

Jeroo discovered that most pre-primary children outgrow their shoes every 3-4 months. That equates to 80 million pairs of shoes in the UK alone. And most of those shoes end up in waste disposal. As much as 85% of UK shoe waste ends up in landfill according to the Better Shoes Foundation. There is a certain stigma around second-hand shoes and parents are concerned about second-hand shoes not fitting well.

So what is the solution? One solution is shoes made from more sustainable, recycled and recyclable materials. 80% of Pip and Henry’s range of shoes is made from sustainable materials and their aim is to make that 100%. That’s something to be proud of. The shoes they sell are packaged in boxes made from recycled cardboard and posted in recyclable mailing bags.

Pip and Henry offer a shoe recycling service for when the shoes are too small. This helps parents keep up with those fast-growing feet while staying mindful of the environment. Also, they offer a voucher for every pair of shoes that is recycled.

New sustainable children’s footwear collection

Pip and Henry recently launched their summer collection. One of the standout shoes in their new summer range is their sustainable sandal collection. The sandals are made from 100% leather offcuts that would otherwise be sent to landfill as waste. These adorable little shoes are podiatrist approved and have easy strap fastenings for little ones to put on and take off.

Another highlight of their new range is the sneakers collection. These are available in a variety of bold-coloured prints and metallic tones. Choose these eye-catching sneakers for the durability and comfort, for which they are known. Pip and Henry make them from gold-certified leather and organic cotton.
